Abstract

Mercury is removed from flue gases from an incinerator plant for incinerating a fuel contaminated with small amounts of mercury by the flue gases being supplied with vapour of sulphur and/or selenium with a carrier gas for the sulphur or selenium and by the flue gases and the sulphur or selenium being brought to assume a temperature which is necessary for reaction between mercury and sulphur or selenium and by the formed reaction product of mercury and sulphur or selenium being removed from the flue gases by the latter being made to pass through a plant for collection of the reaction product. <IMAGE>
