Abstract

The invention makes it possible to pilot a projectile not possessing an aerodynamic element, such as a wing or an empennage, and to do so along the three axes. The system consists in placing, in a plane not passing through the centre of gravity of the projectile, and perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the projectile, a set of at least one pair of commutators (10), each linked to a gas generator, each releasing the gases originating from the generator through one or other of two nozzles (T). The nozzles of the same pair of two opposed commutators are oriented in such a way as to produce forces in two different directions not passing through the centre of gravity, and opposed to the directions of the other commutator of the same pair. An embodiment including four commutators distributed at angles of 90@ with respect to one another makes it possible to obtain sixteen different combinations of forces, and thus to pilot a projectile in roll, in pitch and in yaw, by modulating the force of the piloting couples according to values equal to zero, one or two units of force. Application to all projectiles launched from a tube, and not having to have aerodynamic wing elements. <IMAGE>
