Abstract

The invention relates to a process for lowering the content of water, ash and/or sediment in waste oils. When the waste oil contains less than 1% by volume of water, water or water-containing medium is first of all added to give at least this content of water. A suspension of a cationic polyelectrolyte in mineral oil is metered into the waste oil, which is mixed thoroughly with the mineral oil suspension, and the resulting mixture is separated.
