Abstract

A device for applying signs 17, especially registration plates, to vehicles such as cars, caravans, boats and the like, comprises an elongated, essentially rectangular plate-like element 1, which is intended to be directly or indirectly fastened to a suitable part of the vehicle in question. Along three of the four limiting edges of the plate element, in the state of the plate element in which it is attached to the vehicle, there are arranged elongated flanges 2 which jut out from the vehicle and towards the centre of the plate element. The plate element 1 and the flanges 2 are designed to receive a sign inserted from the non-flanged side 5 of the element by virtue of the fact that the flanges and the plate element form a groove 4 for controlled displacement and retention of the sign against any other removal from the plate element than via the said fourth side 5. The device further contains locking members 10 for locking a sign inserted within the flanges such that it cannot be removed from the device and such that such removal is enabled once it is unlocked. <IMAGE>
