Abstract

A screening arrangement comprises two separate endless chains 12 which are connected to each other by means of a multiplicity of cross-pieces 13 which extend at an angle to the longitudinal direction and direction of advance of the chains and are joined to individual links 15 in each chain, screen cloths 14 being arranged between the said cross-pieces 13. The screen cloths 14 consist of an elastically stretchable material, for example in the form of perforated rubber cloths. Hinge members 16 between mutually connected chain links 15 are controlled directly or indirectly by wave-shaped guides which extend along at least sections of an upper part of the chains and which, as the chains are advanced, cause their links 15 to execute reciprocating tilting movements, giving reciprocating rotational movements of the cross-pieces 13. In this way, the elastic screen cloths are alternately subjected to stretching and buckling as a consequence of the fact that the distance between the attachment points of the screens alternately increases and decreases upon the said rotation of the cross-pieces. <IMAGE>
