Abstract

A closure comprises a female element for attaching to a flexible container wall, and a male element for attaching to an opposite wall, pref. also flexible. There is an axially operating seal between the elements, and a bayonet type locking device which presses the element and seal axially. The device is pref. formed integrally with the elements by interval injection moulding. The seal and/or elements pref. comprise bactericidal zeolite, and there is a barrier layer of heat-shrinkable plastics or laminate forming a gas and vapour tight seal against the female element and a buffer space with the male element which is highly sterilisable by gamma radiation together with the rest of the container.
