Abstract

Method for drying timber, in particular sawn timber, in a drying chamber for predrying, according to which the timber, before being introduced into the drying chamber 1, is predried in a predrying chamber 8 with air from outside which is made to pass through a heat-recovery battery 15, 13 connected to the evacuation system 7 of the drying chamber for outgoing air, in order thus to be imparted at least a temperature increase which brings about a considerable reduction in the relative humidity of the air coming in from outside, after which the air thus heated is blown through the timber in the predrying chamber in such a direction that the timber batch next in line to be introduced into the drying chamber 19 is first exposed to the predrying air. <IMAGE>
