Abstract

An inner mask (8) is fitted inside the face protective mask, which encompasses the nose and mouth of the user, and has an aperture with a valve (24) for breathing in air. This inner mask has two aspiration apertures (20,22) on either side of the outer mask. The aspiration valve (24) and a closure cover (26) are fitted in each of the apertures, and are exchangeable with one another to permit the effective aspiration aperture of the inner mask on every occasion to be located on the opposite side of the protective mask to the relative aspiration filter. Thus, aspirated air, independently of the side on which the filter is located, flows through the mask from one side to the other. The valve (24) and closure cover (26) are relatively soft material, and have peripheral tracks by means of which they are connectable to the aspiration aperture limiting edge parts of the mask.
