Abstract

The rudder surface or blade (2') is normally in a collapsed condition, but when the control signal is received it adopts at least one extended position in which it is angularly adjusted in relation to the flight direction of the airborne unit of which it forms part. The blade can be made to extend to varying degree dependent upon one or more control signals (i). Its angular adjustment when extended is between 5 and 30 deg. The airborne unit may be equipped with several rudder surfaces or blades which are positioned in front of the unit main bearer surface, vanes or wings. When the unit is manoeuvred in different directions and roll functions, the rudder surfaces or blades are activated in pairs or groups, the number of surfaces or blades being pref. four to eight.
