Abstract
A method of casting metal into an electromagnetic crystallizer consists in continuously feeding the metal melt (4) into the inductor (1) of the crystallizer under the influence of the electromagnetic field of which the ingot (6) is formed, its crystallization starting on a bottom plate (2) of the crystallizer at such a frequency of the current passing through the inductor (1) which ensures the balance between the hydrostatic pressure of the metal melt and the electrodynamic pressure of the electromagnetic field of the inductor (1) at a given cross-section of the ingot (6). Along with the crystallization of the melt (4) the ingot (6) is continuously drawn away from the inductor (1) by moving the bottom plate (2). When drawing the bottom plate (2) from inside the inductor (1) the current frequency is increased by a value which is proportional to the decrease of the electromagnetic pressure of the inductor field (1).
