Abstract

Device for measuring without contact the pressure of a gas enclosed by a body (8), e.g. the air pressure in a vehicle tyre. The device includes a diaphragm (2) comprising or attached to an amorphous magnetic transmitter element, said diaphragm being mounted in a bounding wall of the body to be exposed to the pressure of the gas enclosed by the body, at one side thereof and to a reference pressure at the other side thereof, and at least one solenoid (4) located outside the body adjacent thereto. The solenoid is connected to a drive unit (6) for generating a magnetic field affecting said transmitter element, and to a measuring unit (6) responsive to changes in the natural frequency of the diaphragm due to changes in the strain condition of the diaphragm, said measuring unit being connected to an indicator (7) for indicating said changes and thus indicating the pressure difference between the pressures at opposite sides of the diaphragm.
