Abstract
As wear occurs on the cutting tool, there is a change, at irregular intervals, of the tool locating surface against the workpiece. This change occurs when the first projection is worn down and the next comes into contact with the workpiece. The difference is detected by measuring the variations in cutting force vibration, temp. or similar.
