Abstract
The process employed is based on the fact that halogens, and partic. chlorine, react rapidly with unsaturated alkene groups which, when bound with a cellulose molecule chain, produce a material which is not, only effective from an absorption aspect, but also easily handled in the prodn. of respiratory protection. This is esp. applicable to the prodn. of colour-fast textiles, where colour substances are chem-ically bound to cellulose fibre surfaces, and in the prodn. of material with reinforcement fibres, where the latter participate in the polymerisation of a polymer matrix.
