Abstract
A reverse gear mechanism features input and output shafts, (1, 2) which are both connected via a planetary gear assembly consisting partly of a ring gear (7) on a cover (8) that is connected to the output shaft (2) via a primary spline coupling (9,10), and partly of a sun gear (11) which is connected with torsion resistance via a secondary spline coupling (12, 13) with each able to shift axially relative to the input shaft (1). A number of planetary gears (14) integrating with the sun gear (11) as well as the ring gear (7) are positioned on a carrier (16) that is freely rotational relative to the input shaft (1) as well as the cover (6). In a first position, the cover provides a connection with torsion resistance between the shafts (1, 2) via the spline coupling (9, 10). In a second position the input shaft (1) releases the spline coupling while the planetary gear carrier (16) is braked relative to the input shaft. The output shaft is thereby made to rotate in the opposite direction of the input shaft and at a reduced rotational speed.<IMAGE>
