Abstract

Process for the fermentation of starch containing material derived from cereals in order to produce alcohols, preferably ethanol, whereby the cereal starch is presaccharified by using alpha -amylase to a low dextrose equivalent value, whereupon one adds simultaneously amyloglucosidase and a suitable yeast culture for the fermentation of ethanol and carries out a simultaneous hydrolysis and fermentation to ethanol at 35-37 DEG C.
