Abstract
The new monocellular microorganism of the genus Prototheca registered at the Centraalbureau Voor Schimmelcultures Baarn under number CB5 265.75 is used for the production of bioproteins by growing the said microorganism in a culture medium containing ethanol as a source of carbon, thereby obtaining a biomass containing bioproteins. To grow the above microorganism, fermentation is carried out at temperatures between 15 and 40 DEG C, preferably between 30 and 38 DEG C, and at a pH between 1 and 8, preferably between 3 and 5.
