Abstract

Use of the following steel as material for prodn. of stainless springs (esp. roll springs) and spring elements is claimed. The steel has the compsn.: up to 0.03% C, up to 0.10% Si, up to 0.10% Mn, up to 0.025% P, up to 0.010% S, up to 0.10% Al, 6-10% Cr, 7-10% Ni, 1.8-5.5% Mo, 0.5-1.0% Ti, balance Fe and impurities. The steel is cast, hot worked and then cold worked and, in this condition, has a minimal tensile strength of over 1050 N/sq. mm.
