Abstract
In a method for regulating the composition of the fuel-air mixture of an internal combustion engine with an oxygen (lambda) probe in the exhaust pipe of the internal combustion engine and a device for implementing the method, according to the invention the stages of the process "Determination of the operational readiness of the oxygen probe" and "Determination of the oxygen content of the exhaust gas" and the parts needed for implementing the process are physically completely separated. The purpose of the invention is to easily and reliably detect and analyse malfunctions of the oxygen probe. The process according to the invention and the device according to the invention permit an especially easy and accurate analysis of the output signal of the oxygen probe, for example also by an analog-digital converter and a microprocessor.
