Abstract

The invention describes an intake system for a mixture-compressing internal combustion engine with fuel injection nozzle arranged in the intake pipe and a heating element, acted upon by the injected fuel of the injection nozzle, for heating the fuel-air mixture before it enters the cylinder. In order to achieve a good mixture preparation in the cold starting and warm-up phase of the engine, without subsequent cooling of the mixture in the intake port, the heating element comprises a hollow body, arranged inside the intake pipe and with combustion air flowing round it on all sides, into the hollow chamber of which body the fuel is injected in contact with the wall.
