Abstract

Improved compressor comprising a stator (101) and a rotor (108) having vanes. The rotor is supported on a hollow axis (109) which comprises a valve assembly (135) having inlet and outlet valves. The air to be compressed enters the compressor through a hole (120) in the stator and is fed to the interior of the hollow axis (109) and thence through a one-way valve to the corresponding compression chamber. The compressed air is fed through outlet valves to a space (138) in the valve assembly (135) and then to a radially adapted outlet (143). Since the outlet and the inlet valves are adapted close to the centrum of the rotor, one-way valves of steel spring membrane type may be used. According to the invention, the gable (105) of the stator is provided with a shunt conduit (151) which connects the dead space at the position of the compression chamber having smallest volume with the diametrically opposite chamber having greatest volume for transferring the compressed air in the dead space for reuse. Different placement of said shunt conduit is described.
