Abstract

A high speed axial flow type gas laser oscillator comprises a heat exchanger for cooling laser gas, gas circulation drive means connected to the heat exchanger, a plurality of parallel laser tubes connected to the gas circulation drive means, and a plurality of gas recirculation paths for connecting the plurality of laser tubes to the heat exchanger, the plurality of gas recirculation paths having substantially the same length. A catalyst to neutralise ionized gas from the laser tubes may be included in the paths. The tubes may be connected to the circulation drive means by flexible joints, and the laser tube supports may be movable to accommodate expansions. Electrodes may be removably clamped to the laser tubes.
