Abstract

The invention relates to a plaster pigment or filler whose average particle size is between 0.5 and 5 μm, with at least 90% of the particle size interval being greater than 0.3 μm and the ratio between the longest and shortest dimensions of the particles being on average 3-15, expediently 4-6. The pigment according to the invention is produced by a water slurry of the plaster being ground to a particle size of 0.5-5 μm in the presence of a dispersing agent to give a dry substance content which is substantially higher than that which is found to be practicable in a grinding trial without any dispersing agent.
