Abstract

The tensile straightening device described comprises a braking truss (6), a pulling truss (7) and a truing head (8) situated between the two. Each truss has an inner roller (1 resp. 4) and an outer roller (2 rep. 3) the later-named rollers are rotatably mounted on their own rocker frames (9, 10), which are pivotably mounted in the machine stand. The rollers in both trusses can be pressed towards each other through the tensile force of the belt, increasing the torque transmission capability of the rollers. In order to set the necessary speed differences between the rollers in each truss, these are driven via a differential (108, 124), which also serves as a torque converter. Power transmission capability can thereby also be optimised. The difference in speed between the trusses is controlled by a planetary gear (119). A pinion (135) from a traversing motor (137) works toward an external gear ring (134) on the outer sun gear and is regulated with the selected speed relation from a pulse generator, which is driven by the belt (5) on the pulling truss (7) via a measuring roller. To avoid overloading the truss, the shaft gear (112) on the roller (4) on the outlet side of the truss (7) is connected via its torque rod to a tensile force sensing organ (load cell). If the signal from this indicates that the belt force has a tendency to exceed the permissible limit, the speed of the traversing motor is automatically reduced, thereby reducing belt force.<IMAGE>
