Abstract
An ultrasonic measuring device has a transmitter (3) which transmits ultrasonic pulses to an object (1) to determine a geometrical property of the object such as, for example, its location or angular position. The measuring device embodies a control device (4) which controls the emission of pulses, and a signal processing unit (5, 6) which compares the magnitudes of at least two echo pulses for each ultrasonic pulse emitted. These echo pulses originate from reflecting surfaces at different distances from the measuring device. Depending on the comparative values obtained in this way, a signal ( DELTA ) is emitted which corresponds to the said property of the object. <IMAGE>
