Abstract

The invention relates to a lightweight vehicle with a crawler drive mechanism for off-the-road operation. The crawler drive mechanism consists of two crawler drive units which each contain a carrier element which bears two wheel units, the wheel units being rotatably mounted. Continuous crawler drive tracks circulate around the wheel units and a drive wheel. The chassis of the vehicle is mounted on a connecting element between the two carrier elements and can incline about this connecting element. A second connecting element connects the carrier elements elastically but moves independently of the chassis of the vehicle. At one end of the chassis of the vehicle a supporting element and monitoring means for an operating force are provided, which element and which means can run behind the vehicle in order to control it. The source of drive power consists primarily of a petrol or diesel engine which, via a hydraulic pump device and a valve device drives a) a hydraulic motor in each carrier element in order to operate the crawler drive tracks and b) supplies hydraulic pressure for hydraulic power outputs at the vehicle in order to drive external hydraulic tools.
