Abstract

A compressed air brake cylinder (1, 2, 3) with a built-in, automatic adjusting device has, in a pipe (5) connected to the piston (4), a threaded spindle (7) which is displaceable with respect to the pipe (5) and is screwed to a nut (10) via a non-self-locking thread. The nut (10) is provided on both sides with coupling surfaces (11a, 11b) which can rest on corresponding coupling surfaces (12a, 12b) on the pipe (5). A spring (13) is tensioned between the piston (4) and the threaded spindle (7). A second spring (16) is tensioned between the pipe (5) and a spring support (23) which is supported in a rotatable and displaceable manner on the nut (10). The spring support (23) is braced against the braking force direction on a fixed stop (14), in the released state there being a second stop (18), which is connected to the nut (10) at a distance (A) corresponding to the application movement behind the spring support (23). A third spring (20) is arranged between the nut (10) and the spring support. The second and third springs (16 and 20) load the spring support (23) against the braking force direction. <IMAGE>
