Abstract

The illumination device produces a diffuse, indirect lighting of the object, and comprises a cup or bowl-shaped reflector body (12). The body has a material structure on its inside which converts and throws back incoming directed light to form light which is diffuse and radiating in all direction. In at least one of the reflector body limiting sides are apertures (28) for the incoming light from a light source (30). The light spreading angle in the reflector chamber is such that the directed light cannot reach the object (36) without being diffused firstly on the inside of the body. The body has at least one hole (20) for the microscope radiation path in its limiting wall facing the microscope (22) objective.
