Abstract

The tamper is for expansive breaking agents for excavating tunnels. The method comprises making injection bores in the base rock in which the tunnel is to be excavated, inserting an expansive breaking agent (6) into the bores, and expanding the breaking agent cubically to crack the base rock and break it into pieces. - The tamper comprises a connecting rod S, which is provided with resisting members (a,b) at the upper and lower ends thereof, and which is adapted to be inserted into any of the injection bores. The connecting rod prevents the mixture being ejected to the outside in spite of any high-pressure and temperature vapours that may occur in the breaking agent during the reaction. The tamper allows the excavating of a tunnel to be carried out safely and effectively.(6/6)
