Abstract
Process for drying and heating ceramic material which is hollow comprises heating the interior. Typically an electrical resistance heater (3) is introduced into a steel tube (1) which is surrounded by the ceramic insulator (2) which is to be dried following mfrs. The heater is connected to electrical cables at its ends (4). Process is used for drying e.g. a gas injection lance or a protective tube for tapping steel. The lance typically comprises a metal tube surrounded by a ceramic. (Provisional basic previously advised in Week 8417)
