Abstract

A device for retaining a door or the like in an open position comprises a rotatable member (2), in bearings (4,5) provided in an aperture formed in the door. One end of the rotatable member has an actuating device (1) associated therewith and the other end thereof is in the form of a clasp (7) or hook member. The actuating device (1) is rotatable between two end positions. In one position, the rotatable member (2) permits opening and closing of the door and, in the fully open position of the door, strikes against a cushion portion (9) of a pin (8) located on the floor and acting as a limit stop. In such fully-open state, the actuating device (1) can be rotated into its other end position whereupon the clasp or hook member (7) engages the surface of the cushion member (9) remote from the door and the door is thus prevented from closing until the actuating means (1) is returned to its original position (A). <IMAGE>
