Abstract

The machine produces a tube of polygonal section by winding a flat strip into a three-dimensional spiral with overlapping turns. The material is parted off in predetermined lengths after unwinding from a storage roll, and is passed through a folding mechanism in which each edge is profiled. - The material is then wound intermittently onto a shaping frame or drum with a face for each turn of the same width as the profiled strip, joining it to the turn already formed and folding the two together. The completed sections of tubes are indexed forward and parted off to the desired length.
