Abstract

The fuel cartridge or rod is joined to or enclosed by a gas collection arrangement, while sunk in the water basin. This arrangement is connected to an indicator for gaseous leak products. The fuel is raised from the storage position to the indication position. The resulting pressure reduction encourages the flow of fission products from any leaks in the rods. Water is pumped from the collection arrangement to the indication unit. - Used for detecting leaks of fission products from nuclear fuel. (Provisional Basix previously advised in Week 83-38)(0/3)
