Abstract

Mixt. contains trinitrotoluene mixed with gelatine or cellulose nitrate and ethylene glycol dinitrate-glycerol nitrate. The detonation speed exceeds 6000m/s. The explosive contains 40-70% trinitrotoluene. Mixt. contains oxidising salt, esp. ammonium nitrate-sodium nitrate. It also contains microspheres, e.g., bakelite microspheres. Directional explosion is achieved using a metal core. (Provisional Basic previously advised in Week 8403).
