Abstract

Self sharpening cutting edge (esp. for working non-metallic structures) has an annealed profiled surface and a wear zone comprising layers of successively softer material. The hardness of the material used for the cutting edge balances the wear of the edge so that its shape is retained. Cutting edge is e.g. for a hole punching tool. (Provisional Basic previously advised in Week 8349).
