Abstract

An installation for stacking timber planks (21) includes a horizontal conveyor belt (1) which supplies individual planks (22) sideways. The planks are then collected on a platform (4) which can be vertically lifted until a set of suction elements (11) grip the layer of planks. The suction elements (11) are located on horizontal beams (18) along which they can be moved by means of drive chains (12,13). The planks are thus transferred to a stacking platform (5) where they are released such that a horizontal spacing is obtained between the planks.
