Abstract

A method of injecting solid particles into a metallic melt filled vessel is described. Before this happens, the tap hole is filled with sand. Beneath this a shut off device closes off the hole and then the vessel is filled with the melt. Gas is then blown through the hole, blowing away the sand and feeding in the solid material. Used for introducing solid particles into a metal melt e.g. SiCa, into steel. (Provisional Basic previously advised in Week 83/33).
