Abstract

The method of turbo-charging comprises passing the air delivered from the turbo-charger into a moving cellular thermal regenerator element in a casing, and admitting to this element a stream of cool air and a mixture of water and volatile fuel, such as methanol. The mixture is then discharged into the engine. The rotary cellular heat regenerator element has an open end and a number of flow passages parallel to its rotation axis. One end of the casing has several inlet ports for respectively admitting, to the thermal regenerator, hot air from the turbo-charger, cooling air from a fan or by a ram effect, and a water-volatile fuel mixture. The other end of the casing has a port for discharging cooled pressurised air-water-volatile fuel mixture to the engine.
