Abstract
Electric power amplifiers produce as a rule the output voltage by taking up the voltage between a continuous voltage and the output voltage by means of a component with controllable voltage drop. When the output voltage is an alternating voltage a transformation of the continuous voltage can instead be made by a transformer (14) with variable ratio. The position of the connecting point of the transformer winding can be controlled mechanically or electrically and the contact at the point can be attained by mechanical contact, electrons, ions or charges in semiconductors of different kind. For example electrons can be guided to determined turns on the coil by giving a cathode (16) a longitudinal voltage drop from the heating voltage (18) and by connecting the input voltage to the grid, making it possible for electrons to arrive at a part of the coil, while the voltage of the coil further limits the electron current to a small part of the coil. By means of the design of the transformer the input signal can be converted to arbitrary output signal for example harmonics and saw tooth voltage.
