Abstract

Cast binder comprising a fulvene with the formula <IMAGE> where each of R1 and R2 is independently a hydrogen atom or a hydrocarbon group with 1-10 carbon atoms, or else a furyl group; alternatively, R1 and R2 are joined together and - together with the carbon atom to which they are bound - form a cycloaliphatic hydrocarbon group; and where each of R3, R4, R5 and R6 is independently a hydrogen atom or a methyl group, but at most only one of the groups R3, R4, R5 and R6 is a methyl group; prepolymer prepared from such fulvenes; as well as mixtures thereof; also an acid catalyst with a pKa value of about 7 or less.
