Abstract

A dosing valve comprising a housing (1) having an inlet port (4) and an outlet port (5) and divided internally into first and second chambers (18 and 14) by a movable member (6) having an elastically deformable portion (11). The first chamber (18) is in permanent communication with the inlet (4), and the second chamber communicates with the outlet (5) via a spring loaded non-return valve (19), which is adapted to be closed by movement of the movable member towards the outlet and to be opened when the pressure in the second chamber (14) reaches a predetermined level. The first and second chambers are arranged to communicate via a control port (15, 16) which is adapted to be closed by movement of the movable member (6) towards the outlet (5). In operation, with the valve filled with fluid at low pressure, an increase in pressure at the inlet causes the movable member (6) to move towards the outlet (5) so as to shut off the control port (15, 16) between the chambers and the outlet valve (19, 20), and a further increase in inlet pressure and therefore in the first chamber causes the elastically deformable portion (11) to deform so as to pressurise the second chamber and thereby open the outlet valve to deliver the dose defined by the second chamber (14). <IMAGE>
