Abstract

Private branch exchange 1 contains a number of extensions and a computer unit 4 which detects the traffic within the exchange. The exchange is provided with an arrangement which enables transferring of the particular extension to the adapter board P1, P2 or telephone operator within the exchange and to initiate, at the adapter board or telephone operator, on a reading element P1", P2" or 7, for example, in the form of a screen or the like, displays indicating reason and possibly time, which are connected to the transfer, along with the transferred number and possibly the name associated with the number. First extensions A1, B1, C1, F2 are assigned by groups to predetermined different adapter boards P1 or P2. The exchange is arranged to enable self-transfer of the particular extension to the adapter board assigned to the particular extension. The exchange is also arranged to patch a call intended for the extension through to the latter adapter board when the adapter board is manned and not in the busy condition. If, on the other hand, the adapter board is unmanned or in the busy condition, the call is forwarded to the telephone operator. Other extensions D0, E0, G0 are partitioned so as not to belong to any predetermined adapter board of said adapter boards. Self-transfer can occur from said other extensions, or there can be referral from only one of said adapter boards. For a self-referred second extension, an incoming call for the particular extension is routed to the telephone operator, and when the transfer of the second extension occurs from one of said adapter boards, the call is routed to it. <IMAGE>
