Abstract

1355547 Automatic exchange systems COMPAGNIE INDUSTRIELLE DES TELECOMMUNICATIONS CIT-ALCATEL 10 Dec 1971 [10 Dec 1970] 57551/71 Heading H4K A plurality of operators are each provided with a single appearance on a junctor-operator connecting network and each operator desk is provided with a display in respect of every call with which she is currently concerned, the displays being updated over a common signalling bus by a central logic which monitors the junctors on a cyclic basis. The general arrangement is depicted in Fig. 2 which shows a connecting network RCO having operator's TO connected to one side thereof and junctors JR connected to the other side thereof the junctors provide inter exchange lines cd with an appearance RCp on a main switching network (not shown). Each of the junctors is accessed periodically by a logic circuit LC containing a memory compartment in respect of each junctor and any change in state of a junctor is conveyed to the operator position allotted by the logic for handling a call therethrough over a common bus. Particular operation.-An address register EA periodically accesses each of the junctors such as JR so that if it is in a calling condition this fact is inserted in the junctor's compartment in memory MP. Logic L on a last look basis recognises the condition and requests a free operator. The latters identity is written into the memory compartment concerned and the logic over control buses 01 and 03 mark the calling junctor and the operator position in junctor-operator connecting network RCO so that a path may be cut-through between them. Simultaneously the operator distributer DTO scans read-out data from memory so that on recognizing the allotted operator number which accompanies the calling condition signal, SI is enabled to enter this data into baffles PNT. The data leaves MT and is converted from parallel to serial format prior to despatch over bus is from which it is taken off to the particular operator position TOi by means of a distributer SMV set by the transmitted identity. At the position, the junctor identity is set up in an integrated circuit store MVi and a calling lamp is lit. The operator responds by actuating her speech key so that she is placed in contact with the junctor JR over the already set up path and can thus ascertain the requirements of the caller. She keys out the wanted party's number over signalling circuit tt to the logic which inserts the number in the appropriate memory compartment and additionally reverts it over the signalling path is so that the operatoris provided with a visual check on her display- MVi. When number sending is complete the logic conveys the number to the main switching network RCp over control path 02 and a speech path between JR and P.Ab is set up. The logic informs the operator accordingly and she withdraws thereby releasing the junctor-operator position path. The logic continues to monitor JR and to pass any changes of state to the' operator position via bus is so that the operator may intervene in the connection whenever she observes a particular condition on her display panel.
