Abstract

The present invention relates to a cross-country medical vehicle which can be transported by air, is autonomous and can be driven long distances, for example 1600 km, particularly in desert regions. The vehicle comprises a chassis which supports a drive unit, and a closed body work which contains equipment for medical treatment and care of victims of accidents or injured persons. The rear end wall of the body work is provided with two doors 21 which can be opened outwards. The body work includes at least two stretchers 11 which are arranged one above the other and are held releasably by a stand 10, which can be adjusted between two different angle positions, namely a transport position in which the stand 10 is parallel to the longitudinal axis of the vehicle, and a loading position in which the stand forms an angle with said longitudinal axis. At its base, the stand 10 has slide members 22 for facilitating the angle adjustment. Despite the equipment, the vehicle is of small size, for which reason it can be transported by air. It is intended to be used particularly in areas which lack medical centres or pharmacies. <IMAGE>
