Abstract

The shank-type milling cutter has a cylindrical shank with a plurality of cylindrical openings 5 extending perpendicularly to the axis of the cutter and having plane bottoms 6. In each of these openings there is arranged a cylindrical insert support 4 having an exchangeable triangular indexable cutting insert 3 of hard metal which is fixed in a corresponding recess 2 in the insert support 4 by means of a screw 14. The insert support 4 is held by means of a screw 9 engaging in a thread 8 provided in the bottom 6 of the opening 5, the screw being at an angle to the axis of the opening. Part of the opening is cut away to provide a swarf space 13. <IMAGE>
