Abstract

The invention concerns a hinged and folding container intended for transport of piece goods such as shavings, bark, chips, needles and the like in connection with rational forest usage. The container comprises a rectangular bottom and end pieces and side flaps arranged at its corners attached by hinges. The end pieces and flaps are preferably divided at half their height and outfitted with hinges so that the parts can be folded onto each other. In order to make the container useful for many applications, all of the folding hinges 4 contain a hinge piece 8 which is firmly attached in one part of the end piece or side flap and a part 9 containing the hinge axle 10 that can move sideways in both directions relative to the former for such a length that a folding of the flap is possible in both directions. All of the folding hinges 8 of the bottom 1 contain a hinge part 15 which can shift relative to the bottom, perpendicular to it, and extending lengthwise in the direction of the shifting, which is controlled in its shifting motion by a guide tube 16 firmly attached to the bottom, and which has such length that it allows the axle of the corner hinge to move across the bottom when the side flaps and end pieces are folded down onto the bottom so that they can lie flat against each other. <IMAGE>
