Abstract

Stable dispersions of polyisocyanate polyaddition products in hydroxyl-containing compounds as dispersants are obtained by reacting (1) organic polyisocyanates with (2) compounds containing primary and/or secondary amino groups and/or primary hydroxyl groups, and/or ammonia, in (3) compounds containing at least one hydroxyl group, where the compounds 3 contain secondary hydroxyl groups if the compounds 2 employed are those containing primary hydroxyl groups, where the reaction components are reacted in the presence of more than 4 % by weight of water, based on the reaction mixture including water. The dispersions of polyisocyanate polyaddition products in hydroxyl-containing compounds which are obtainable according to the invention can be used as the starting component for the preparation of polyurethane plastics.
