Abstract

1529263 Smoke - generating devices FORENADE FABRIKSVERKEN 17 Feb 1976 [24 Feb 1975] 6156/76 Heading F3A A smoke-generating device with a rapid screening-off effect and an enduring screening-off effect comprises a combustible smoke-generating charge having portions for relatively rapid and relatively slow burning, the portion for relatively rapid burning having a larger ignitable surface area than the portion for relatively slow burning, and means for simultaneous ignition of the relatively slow and fast burning portions. In one embodiment, Fig. 2, the rapid screening- off is effected by igniting four cylindrical bodies 10 of smoke-generating composition with the aid of an igniting pellet 16 and a black powder layer 13. A body 11 of a smoke-generating composition is also simultaneously ignited, but burns over a smaller area than the bodies 10 and provides the enduring screening-off effect. In a similar embodiment, Fig. 3 (not shown), the rapid screening-off effect is provided by a stack of annular discs (17a, 17b) of smokegenerating composition, which discs are ignitable on both major surfaces by layers (20a, 20b, 20c) of black powder.
