Abstract
The disclosure concerns a kit (52) of parts comprising first and second manifolds (54, 56). A number of pipe studs (38, 40) of the first manifold (54) and their placement on the housing (36) of the first manifold (54) is identical to the number of pipe studs (38, 40) of the second manifold (56) and their placement on the housing (36) of the second manifold (56). A first subset (44) of the pipe studs of the first manifold (54) is provided with openings (48) configured to provide fluid communication therethrough. A first subset (44) of the pipe studs of the second manifold (56) is provided with openings (48) configured to provide fluid communication therethrough. The first subset (44) of the number of pipe studs of the first manifold (54) is smaller than the first subset (44) of the number of pipe studs of the second manifold (56).
Claims (15)
1. A kit (52) of parts comprising a first manifold (54) for a heat exchange fluid circuit (32) of a first vehicle (60) and a second manifold (56) for a heat exchange fluid circuit (32) of a second vehicle (62), wherein each of the first and second manifolds (54, 56) comprises a housing (36) forming an internal space (42) and is provided with a number of pipe studs (38, 40), wherein the number of pipe studs (38, 40) of the first manifold (54) and their placement on the housing (36) of the first manifold (54) is identical to the number of pipe studs (38, 40) of the second manifold (56) and their placement on the housing (36) of the second manifold (56), wherein the housing (36) of the first manifold (54) comprises at least a first housing portion (37), the first housing portion (37) of the first manifold (54) and a first quantity of the number of pipe studs (38, 40) of the first manifold (54) being formed of a first single part (41), wherein the housing (36) of the second manifold (56) comprises at least a first housing portion (37), the first housing portion (37) of the second manifold (56) and a first quantity of the number of pipe studs (38, 40) of the second manifold (56) being formed of a further single part (53), wherein a first subset (44) of the number of pipe studs (38, 40) of the first manifold (54) is provided with openings (48) configured to provide fluid communication between the internal space (42) of the first manifold (54) and one or more volumes separate from the first manifold (54), and a second subset (46) of the number of pipe studs (38, 40) of the first manifold (54) comprises blind studs (40) configured to prevent fluid communication between the internal space (42) of the first manifold (54) and an external space of the first manifold (54), wherein a first subset (44) of the number of pipe studs (38, 40) of the second manifold (56) is provided with openings (48) configured to provide fluid communication between the internal space (42) of the second manifold (56) and one or more volumes separate from the second manifold (56), and a second subset (46) of the number of pipe studs (38, 40) of the second manifold (56) comprises blind studs (40) configured to prevent fluid communication between the internal space (42) of the second manifold (56) and an external space of the second manifold (56), and wherein the first subset (44) of the number of pipe studs (38, 40) of the first manifold (54) is smaller than the first subset (44) of the number of pipe studs (38, 40) of the second manifold (56).

The kit (52) of parts according to claim 1, wherein in the first manifold (54), each of the pipe studs (38) of the first subset (44) of the number of pipe studs (38, 40) have machined outer surface portions (49) adjacent to their respective openings (48), and wherein in the second manifold (56), each of the pipe studs (38) of the first subset (44) of the number of pipe studs (38, 40) have machined outer surface portions (49) adjacent to their respective openings (48).

The kit (52) of parts according to claim 1 or 2, wherein the housing (36) of the first manifold (54) comprises a second housing portion (39), the second housing portion (39) of the first manifold (54) and a second quantity of the number of pipe studs (38, 40) of the first manifold (54) being formed of a third single part (55), wherein the housing (36) of the second manifold (56) comprises a second hosing portion, the second housing portion (39) of the second manifold (56) and a second quantity of the number of pipe studs (38, 40) of the second manifold (56) being formed of a fourth single part (57), wherein the first and second housing portions (37, 39) of the first manifold (54) are connected to each other and de|imit at least part of the internal space (42) of the first manifold (54), and wherein the first and second housing portions (37, 39) of the second manifold (56) are connected to each other and de|imit at least part of the internal space (42) of the second manifold (56).

The kit (52) of parts according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein the first manifold (54) is configured to distribute a heat exchange fluid to and/or from one or more battery packs (8) of the first vehicle (60), and wherein the second manifold (56) is configured to distribute a heat exchange fluid to and/or from one or more battery packs (8) of the second vehicle (62).

The kit (52) of parts according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein the number of pipe studs (38, 40) of each of the first and second manifolds (54, 56) is within a range of 6 - 16, wherein the first subset (44) of the number of pipe studs (38, 40) of the first manifold (54) comprises within a range of 2 - 12 pipe studs (38), and wherein the first subset (44) of the number of pipe studs (38, 40) of the second manifold (56) comprises within a range of 4 -pipe studs (38).

A set (58) of vehicles comprising at least a first vehicle (60) and a second vehicle (62), wherein the first vehicle (60) comprises a heat exchange fluid circuit (32) including a first manifold (54) according to any one of claims 1 - 5, and wherein the second vehicle (62) comprises a heat exchange fluid circuit (32) including a second manifold (56) according to any one of claims 1 -
7. The set (58) of vehicles according to claim 6, wherein the first and second vehicles (60, 62) are electrical vehicles, and wherein the respective heat exchange fluid circuits (32) are heat exchange fluid circuits (32) of one or more battery packs (8) of the vehicles (60, 62).
8. A manifold (30) for a heat exchange fluid circuit (32) of a vehicle (4), the manifold (30) comprising a housing (36) being provided with a number of pipe studs (38, 40), wherein an internal space (42) is formed by the housing (36) and the internal space (42) is arranged in fluid communication with the number of pipe studs (38, 40), wherein the housing (36) comprises at least a first housing portion (37), the first housing portion (37) and a first quantity of the number of pipe studs (38, 40) being formed of a first single part (41), wherein a first subset (44) of the number of pipe studs (38, 40) is provided with openings (48) configured to provide fluid communication between the internal space (42) and one or more volumes separate from the manifold (30), and wherein a second subset (46) of the number of pipe studs (38, 40) comprises blind studs (40) configured to prevent fluid communication between the internal space (42) and an external space of the manifold (30).
9. The manifold (30) according to claim 8, wherein each of the pipe studs (38) of the first subset (44) of the number of pipe studs (38, 40) have machined outer surface portions (49) adjacent to their respective openings (48).
10. The manifold (30) according to claim 8 or 9, wherein the housing (36) comprises a second housing portion (39), the second housing portion (39) and some of the number of pipe studs (38, 40) being formed of a second single part (43), wherein the first and second housing portions (37, 39) are connected to each other and delimit at least part of the internal space (42).
11. The manifold (30) according to claim 10, wherein the first single part (41) is a cast metal part and the second single part (43) is a cast metal part, or wherein the first single part (41) isa moulded polymeric material part and the second single part (43) is a moulded polymeric material part.
12. The manifold (30) according to any one of claims 8 - 11, being configured to distribute a heat exchange fluid to and/or from one or more battery packs (8) of the vehicle (4).
13. The manifold (30) according to any one of the claims 8 - 12, wherein the number of pipe studs (38, 40) comprises within a range of 6 - 16 pipe studs (38, 40), and wherein the first subset (44) of the number of pipe studs (38, 40) comprises within a range of 2 - 14 pipe studs (38).
14. A heat exchange system (2) of a vehicle (4), the heat exchange system (2) comprising a manifold (30) according to any one of claims 8 - 13, the heat exchange system (2) further comprising conduits (34) connected to the first subset (44) of the number of pipe studs (38, 40), wherein the conduits (34) lead to and/or from one or more of a heat exchange element (28) of a battery pack (8), a pump (12), an expansion device (16), and/or an internal combustion engine (6).
15. A method (100) for producing a manifold (30, 54, 56) for a heat exchange fluid circuit (32) of a vehicle (4, 60, 62), the manifold (30, 54, 56) comprising a housing (36) being provided with a number of pipe studs (38, 40), wherein an internal space (42) is formed by the housing (36) and the internal space (42) is arranged in fluid communication with the pipe studs (38, 40), wherein the method (100) comprises steps of: - casting or injection moulding (102) a first housing portion (37) comprising a first quantity of the number of pipe studs (38, 40), each pipe stud of the first quantity of the number of pipe studs (38, 40) being a blind stud (40), - machining (104) a first pipe stud forming part of the first quantity of the number of pipe studs (38, 40) such that an opening (48) is provided in the first pipe stud (38), - casting or injection moulding (106) a second housing portion (39) comprising a second quantity of the number of pipe studs (38, 40), each pipe stud of the second quantity of the number of pipe studs (38, 40) being a blind stud (40), - machining (108) a second pipe stud forming part of the second quantity of the number of pipe studs (38, 40) such that an opening (48) is provided in the second pipe stud (38), and - connecting (110) the first and second housing portions (37, 39) to delimit at least part of the internal space (42) and such that the first and second pipe studs (38) form part of a first subset (44) of pipe studs (38) of the number of pipe studs (38, 40), the first subset (44) of the number of pipe studs (38, 40) being configured to provide fluid communication between the internal space (42) and one or more volumes separate from the manifold (30, 54, 56).
