Bågens dimension måste vara tillräckligt stor för att bågen skall generera tillräcklig retetionskraft när den anbringas emot tanden. Bågens bredd är anpassad efter de olika tändernas storlek. Bågen är försedd med uttag passande till de stoppklackar som finns på pivådelarna. Bågen är också försedd med urtag/hål där kofferdamtångens skänklar kan anbringas vid monteringen på tanden.
