Description
459 215 satisfactory basis for claiming that a customer has made a mistake regarding entry time. A further disadvantage of the known devices is that the necessary equipment for applying or reading the identity information is relatively expensive. Furthermore, the known devices necessitate advanced communication between the ticket apparatus and the payment receiving apparatus since the information concerning the time of entry and identity must be transferred between these apparatuses.
OF THE INVENTION The object of the present invention is to provide ways to remedy the above related problems and disadvantages.
This object is achieved according to the invention by giving the device the features which appear from the following patent claims, and then closest to the features in the features of claim 1.
The application of printers and readers operating with a bar code means a relatively inexpensive solution in this context, since such equipment for bar codes is well established and is available at an affordable price as standard products. Because the bar code writer in the ticket machine is arranged to provide the ticket at the entrance station with a time information, the customer will be physically accompanied by a proof of the correct entrance time. In the event of electrical disturbances or otherwise faults in the device, the customer will consequently be in a position to prove his information by means of the ticket. The arrangement as a whole can also be considerably simpler in that there is no requirement for information transfer between the ticket apparatus and the payment receiving apparatus. 459 21.5 Because the payment receiving apparatus according to the preferred embodiment is arranged to allow the customer to retrieve his ticket after the reading by means of the bar code reader, the customer can also after the time of payment prove the correct entry time where he would be of the opinion that incorrect debiting was performed.
Other advantageous and alternative designs are subject to the dependent claims.

När väl kundenlämnat in- fartsstationen och bommen har stängts återgår apparaten 3 till viloläget antytt vid 24.Fig. 3 illustrates an example of the constructive construction of the apparatus 3. The apparatus may comprise a processor 1 or computer 21. To this are connected a timer 22, the sensor devices 6 and 7, the ticket button 19, the display 18, the printer 13 and the control device 23 for the boom 5- The function at the entrance station 1 is as follows (see also fig. 4). In a rest position indicated at 24, the apparatus 3 may be arranged to indicate on the display 18, for example, the following "text ma; WELCOME 17 Nov 1987," 11:30. When a vehicle 25 is registered by the sensor device 6, the processor 21 controls the display 18 to display at 18b eg the additional text: 'PRESS FOR TICKET When the customer presses the ticket button 459 215 19 the display can show, in addition to a time information, as indicated at 18c, the text: WAIT TICKET. Éunden can then take out the issued ticket in the opening 20 and then open b As indicated in Fig. 4. When the customer's vehicle enters the parking facility and leaves the sensor device 7, the boom S returns to the closed position. Should, as indicated in Fig. 4 at 26, a vehicle in front enter the sensor device 7 by reversing, the processor 21 can suitably be arranged to control the display 18 to at 18d issue a call to wait for the customer in the first-mentioned vehicle 25. Once the customer has left the entrance station and the barrier has been closed, apps return aten 3 to hibernation indicated at 24.
The payment receiving apparatus 8 (Figs. 5 and 6) comprises a bar code reader 27 arranged to read the bar code of the ticket 14 when the ticket is placed in a reading position, which is accessible through a slot 28, relative to the apparatus.
The apparatus 8 further comprises a computer or processor 29 arranged to, on the basis of the time information read by the reader 27 on the ticket, the current time obtained from a timer 30, and the prevailing parking fee, which is programmable in the processor 29 per se. known manner, perform the calculation of amounts to be paid. This amount is indicated in a display 31. The apparatus further comprises a button 32, which upon pressing causes a receipt to be issued in an opening 33. Finally, the apparatus has an opening 34 for receiving means of payment in the form of coins, banknotes, debit cards, credit cards or other means of payment as well as an opening 35 for the issuance of return money in the case of cash payment.
Fig. 6 schematically illustrates whether the timer 30, the sensor device 11, the sensor device 12, the operating device 36 for the boom 10, the receipt button 32, a receipt printer 37, the display 31, the reader 27, a payment receiving device 38 arranged in connection to the opening 34 and finally a device 39 for money return in case of excess payment.
The apparatus 8 is arranged to allow the customer to retrieve his ticket by means of the bar code reader 27 after reading.
The apparatus 8 is arranged to store in a memory the bar code information of the ticket. On the basis of these memory data, the device is arranged to check that the bar code information on a ticket read by the device 8 means that the ticket is valid, ie that the ticket has not been read before and that the existing identification information concerning the ticket device 3 is correct.
The function at the exit station 2 is as follows (see also Fig. 7). The sleep position of the device is indicated at 40 and the display can assume the state 31a, in which it, for example, emits the information: EXIT 17 NOV 87, TUES 12:00. When a vehicle 25 drives up on the sensor device 11, the processor 29 controls the display to output, for example, the following text: PLACE THE TICKET IN THE READER, which takes place at 31b. At 41, it is indicated whether the reader 27 reads the bar code on the ticket. In the event of an invalid ticket, information about this is displayed in the display, which is indicated at 310. Where the ticket is found to be acceptable, ie that the ticket has not been read before and that the identification information concerning the device 3 is correct, the processor 29 controls the display to show e.g. : TICKET APPROVED, TAKE OUT THE TICKET, which is indicated at 31d. The processor then calculates on the basis of the time information read, current time and parking fee the amount to be paid which is displayed at 31e. To the extent that the customer wants a receipt, he should press the button 32 before payment. The payment operation is indicated at 42. To the extent that the customer wishes a receipt, the processor 29 may be arranged to, as indicated at 459 215 31f, provide the information: WAIT A RECEIPT. When payment is completed, the processor 29 controls the display to illustrate this as at 31g, for example through the text: THANK YOU FOR THE VISIT WELCOME AGAIN. Then the boom 5 is opened and the vehicle can drive out of the plant after which the apparatus 8 returns to idle position 40. Here too the device can be such that the display at 31h can give a waiting signal where a vehicle in front would be obstructing, which is sensed by the device 12. The receipt illustrated in Fig. 7 at 43 suitably shows information about the owner of the facility, current time and amount paid in non-coded text.
Lines 44 and 45 in Figs. 4 and 7 indicate how the devices 3 and 8 can be designed in such a way that customers who show special authorization, for example in the form of cards for long-term subscribed parking spaces, receive bypass certain functional steps. More specifically, in the apparatus 3 the ticket dispensing step and in Fig. 7 at least the payment step are bypassed. As indicated in Fig. 7 by the line 46, the apparatus 8 is further arranged so that a customer who within a certain time after entry, for example five or ten minutes, again wishes to exit does not have to pay any payment. The reason for such a quick exit can be that the parking facility is fully occupied.
By the term bar code is meant here such code which is formed by lines of varying thickness and / or spacing. The bar code designated "interleaved 2- of 5" can be used to advantage. This type means that the thickness of both the lines and the spaces is information-bearing.
As the bar code reader, laser readers capable of reading bar code remotely are preferably used. Such a reader can, for example, perform a reading 40 - 50 times per second, which is why very fast function is obtained. 459 215 From the above description it appears that no transfer of data concerning an individual customer is transferred between the entrance station and the exit station other than via the ticket 14. This provides a very simple embodiment. However, if desired, a relatively simple connection can be made between the entry station and the exit station insofar as the number of departing vehicles is subtracted from the number of approaching vehicles so that information on the number of vehicles in the facility can be obtained and this information can be used to make further vehicles to drive into the facility and also a sign if such full occupancy can be activated. However, any error in this communication between the entrance station and the exit station does not mean that the calculation and debiting of parking fees is disturbed.
Betalningsoperationen är nämligen den mest tidskrävande av de operationer som skall ske vid utfart.DESCRIPTION OF ALTERNATIVE EXECUTION At larger car parks in particular, it may be appropriate to have separate payment and exit stations. The payment operation is namely the most time-consuming of the operations that must take place at the exit.
Due to this, in a certain car park two or more toll stations may be required even if only one exit station is used. To the extent that there are several exit stations, two or more toll stations can be arranged for each of these. With reference to Figs. 8 and 9, the function in such a case will be clarified.
När betalning skett kan såsom antydes vid 50e pà displayen anges uppgiften: AVVAKTA KVITTO.Fig. 8 illustrates the function of such a payment station: The payment receiving apparatus is substantially of the same design as that described with reference to Figs. 5-7. The difference is that the payment receiving apparatus used according to Fig. 8 comprises a bar code printer and is arranged to issue to the customer 459 215 10 after payment a receipt in the form of a ticket or a receipt 47. This receipt bears the same letter as the receipt 43 in Fig. 7 but also has in bar code 48 information about the time of payment and also an identification information characteristic of the receiving device. Fig. 8 indicates a rest position for the device at 49. The payment receiving device can be designed in such a way that the customer is expected to move to the same pedestrian, but vehicle travel past the device is also possible. In idle mode, the device on its display can, for example, show the following message at 50a: WELCOME, PLACE THE TICKET IN THE READER. The barcode reader then reads, possibly after the customer has pressed a button for initiating the reader, the barcode on the ticket as indicated at 51. In the event of an invalid ticket, the customer is notified of this on the display at 50b. As soon as the ticket is approved, the following information can be given to the customer at 500: THE TICKET APPROVED, REMOVE THE TICKET. Prior to this, the apparatus has checked that the ticket has not been read before by comparison with information stored in memory about previously read tickets and it has also been established that the identification information on the ticket refers to a ticket apparatus belonging to the device. On the display, the customer then receives information at 50d about the amount to be paid and payment is made at point 52. When payment has been made, as indicated at 50e, the information can be stated on the display: WAIT RECEIPT.
Kvittot 47 utgör icke endast kvittens vad avser erlagd betalning utan också en utfartsbiljett till följd av streckkodsinfor- mationen 48.The device then delivers the receipt 47 to the customer and the device returns to the idle state 49. The receipt 47 constitutes not only the receipt in respect of payment made but also an exit ticket as a result of the bar code information 48.
Fig. 9 illustrates a separate exit station for use with the separate payment station, the function of which is described in Fig. 8. This exit station comprises an exit apparatus, which comprises a bar code reader arranged to read the bar code of the receipt or exit ticket 47 when this is placed in a reading position relative to the exit apparatus and which is arranged to control an exit control device similarly included in the exit station, similar to the one illustrated in Fig. 1 at 9 to allow exit within a certain time after the time information in bar code on the exit ticket 47. This exit is also - apparatus is arranged to allow the customer to read his exit ticket after reading by means of the bar code reader so that when the customer has both the entrance ticket and the exit ticket in his possession.
The exit device is furthermore advantageously arranged to store the bar code information of the exit ticket in a memory.
On the basis of this stored information, the exit device is arranged to check that the bar code information on a read exit ticket means that it is valid, ie that the time between the current time and the time information in the bar code 48 on the exit ticket 47 does not exceed a predetermined measured, t eg 5 or 10 minutes. Furthermore, the exit device is arranged to check that the identification information in bar code on the exit ticket 47 refers to a device receiving payment belonging to the device.
The function of the exit station is more precisely the following (Fig. 9). In a sleep mode indicated at 53, the exit device indicates on its display, for example, EXIT and current time information at S4a. When a vehicle 25 drives up on a sensor device 55 in front of the exit device, the text is shown on its display: PLACE THE TICKET IN THE READER. The bar code reader in the device reads at 56 the bar code on the exit ticket 47. In case of invalid ticket, this is notified to the customer on the device display at 540 "If the ticket is approved, the customer is notified on the display at 54d, eg 459 215 12 through the text; REMOVE THE TICKET, THANK YOU FOR THE VISIT, WELCOME AGAIN, then the exit device directs the exit barrier to opening as indicated at 57 and the exit device returns to idle position 53. As in the previous embodiment, on the exit apparatus display as indicated at reversing car would be located on a sensor device in the middle of the barrier Otherwise, the barrier returns to the closed position after the vehicle 25 has passed out of the exit station. Also, as indicated by line 58, there is a bypass for customers who subscribe to parking spaces and have suitable evidence eg cards which, when inserted into the exit device, give rise to the bypass and consequently direct boom opening.
The described device can of course be modified in a number of ways within the scope of the inventive concept. For example, it would be conceivable to design the device so that information concerning vehicles entering through the entrance station is stored and this information is transferable to the payment receiving apparatus and, insofar as there is a separate exit station from the payment station, to an exit apparatus included therein. Consequently, information concerning permitted tickets is stored and, after comparison, this information can be successively deleted. Furthermore, it is possible to design the payment receiving device so that it retains the ticket provided with a bar code. Checking the correct function can also be done afterwards, as the tickets remain in the receiving device for at least some time. In addition, the payment receiving apparatus could be designed so that it applies the receipt regarding the amount paid and any additional bar code information for exit, insofar as there is a separate exit station, directly on the actual entrance ticket, on which in so case space must be provided for such additional writing. The ticket apparatus 3 could be arranged to write the time of entry on the ticket 14 in writing that can be read directly by the customer, which, however, facilitates unauthorized use of lost tickets.
Another alternative to enable the customer to check that the correct entry time has been noted is to design the receiving device so that it indicates on its display with numbers and / or letters the entry time indicated on the ticket in bar code when payment is to be made. Finally, it should be understood that the memory or memories defined in claim 3 and / or claim 9 should be large or large enough to hold information corresponding to at least the number of vehicles that can be parked in the facility.
